After nearly tripling the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan in 2009-10, President Barack Obama is pulling them out, aiming to end all U.S. combat there by December 2014. He says Afghans are now "perfectly capable" of defending themselves, allowing U.S. troops to leave. Mitt Romney now endorses ending combat in 2014, saying flatly "we're going to be finished" then.

The Major On Afghanistan

When I first came to Afghanistan I thought I knew quite a bit about what the conflict was about. Being that I had prior training and I heard so much on the news about the conflict in Afghanistan and for goodness sake I am in the Army they told me what was going on in Afghanistan. The longer I stay here, the more I realize that to really understand this country, you have to experience life here for yourself. No amount of training or stories can give you the experience of living it. Working in Afghanistan has allowed me to experience life as a military Soldier first hand, and I have nothing but admiration for all of my fellow soldiers and coalition forces who serve here with me. We all have something to bring to the fight. It's like a body you have hands, feet, arms and a head on your shoulder those are just a few parts, but the point is we all play a part that makes the body move and function. That is what I like about the military the moving parts that make things happen.

I have good days, where I feel like things are going well and we are making a difference, and other days when it feels like I am trying to climb a mountain. But I signed up, and I am a warrior, a member of a team, I will be here every day until it's time for me to go back home. Every day I pray and deal with it. I thank God, my family and my friends for their love and support I need it. It comes in handy at times when I need it the most.  I am here because it's a sacrifice to my country.

How can we answer our most pressing questions about the will of God?
The Bible Replies:  For Scripture's prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.  2 Peter 1:21.
